Bears ready to face two brand-new teams
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – No. 1 Baylor acrobatics and tumbling starts its two-meet road trip to New York on Sunday, starting with a meet at No. 15 Iona. The meet will start at 2 p.m. CT at the Hynes Athletics Center.
The Bears (3-0) face the Gaels (2-0), who are in their inaugural season.
BU had three high scores of 9.95 last time out in the win against No. 2 Oregon, coming in Compulsory Pyramid, Seven-Element Acro and freshman Payton Washington's Six-Element Tumbling pass. Baylor defeated the Ducks by 7.1-points en route to its 30th-straight meet win, dating back to 2021.
Iona is coached by Jacquie Eshleman, a former student-athlete of Baylor head coach Felecia Mulkey when she was at Oregon. The Gaels opened their inaugural season against fellow new team LIU on Feb. 14. Iona took a 254.19 – 233.41 win over the Sharks before going on to defeat Morgan State on Feb. 23 by 25.185 points.
