Silvestri and Peters garner monthly praise after the Big 12 Championship
WACO, Texas – Baylor equestrian Jumping Seat fifth-year Dominika Silvestri and Reining freshman Sadie Peters collected Big 12 Rider of the Month awards, as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.
Silvestri was named Flat Rider of the Month while Peters was dubbed Reining Rider of the Month.
Silvestri garnered conference honors after riding to an undefeated month of March, posting 80+ scores throughout. The fifth-year's 86-ride helped the Bears claim a 3-2 Flat win over No. 1 TCU in the regular season finale. She carried that momentum into the Big 12 Championship matchup a few weeks later, recording an 80.33 in Baylor's 4-1 event win. Silvestri's 83-ride against Fresno State marked a consolation round high at this year's championship.
Peters kicked off March with a win, scoring the sole Reining point for the Bears against No. 1 TCU to round out the regular season. The freshman out of Bishopville, Md. paved the way for a 2-2 Reining tie in the Big 12 Championship semifinal, tying her point at a season-high 71.33. Peters' 69.5-ride contributed to a strong 4-1 event win against Fresno State.
These awards mark Silvestri's first monthly award of the season and the 13th of her career, while Peters earns her career-first monthly accolade.
Baylor finished its 2023-2024 campaign with a 3-11 record, including a 1-5 mark in conference play, and claimed third place in the 2024 Big 12 Championship.
