Bears open tournament against Southern Miss
PARADISE ISLAND, The Bahamas – Baylor women's basketball's opening-round matchup against Southern Miss is set for November 23rd at 10 a.m. CT, the resort announced Thursday morning.
Kicking off the Battle 4 Atlantis, the Bears' game against the Lady Eagles is one of four in the first round, with Indiana vs. Columbia, North Carolina vs. Ball State and Texas A&M vs. Villanova. With a win on Saturday, Baylor would advance to play the winner of the Indiana and Columbia contest.
In just its fourth edition for women's basketball, the 2024 Battle 4 Atlantis will feature Baylor for the first time, with the program's 13-0 all-time record outside of the United States. The Bears are 3-0 in NCAA-sanctioned games across the border under Nicki Collen after BU stacked wins against Fordham, Arizona State and Houston at the 2021 Cancun Challenge in Mexico.
On the island, Baylor has been undefeated in four tournaments: the Junkanoo Jam in 2006, 2015 and 2017 and the Sunsplash Shootout in 2010.
The November bout against the Lady Eagles will be the third all-time between the two programs in a series split at one each. Southern Miss picked up the first win in 1979 before Baylor's 97-42 victory in the 2015 contest.
