Bears face Tigers for the first time since 2018 on Friday
WACO, Texas – The 18th-ranked Baylor volleyball team is set to kick off the Baylor Invitational by hosting LSU at the Ferrell Center on Thursday night, with the match starting at 7 p.m.
The Bears (5-2) and the Tigers (5-1) will meet for the 13th iteration of the Baylor Invitational, their first matchup since the 2018 tournament, which was also their last encounter overall.
BU comes into the match with a standing of 30-4 all-time in the Baylor Invitational. The 2018 matchup against LSU in 2018 came out with the Bears on top, winning 3-1.
The match with the Tigers will be the fourth match in seven days for the Bears, having faced SMU most recently on Tuesday.
LSU head coach Tonya Johnson is in her third year leading the program, having previously played for the team before returning to her alma mater. She has a 32-32 record at LSU through her third season and an overall coaching record of 117-104 over eight seasons.
Baylor is 2-0 versus LSU at home, with the series tied overall, 5-5.
LSU will play Samford on Friday night at 5 p.m. in Ferrell, and BU will face the Bulldogs for a Sunday matinee match at 1 p.m. to finish out the Invitational.
All three matches of the Invitational will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats available on BaylorBears.com/stats. Baylor volleyball alumna Braya Hunt Choquette is on the call with John Morris, the Voice of the Bears. Final stats and a full recap for Baylor will be posted to BaylorBears.com at the conclusion of the match.
