WT Travels to Austin for ITA Kickoff Weekend

The Bears face BYU in first round on Friday
AUSTIN, Texas – Baylor women's tennis will make the trip to Austin to play BYU on Friday at 3 p.m. to begin action at the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
The Bears will wrap up the event against either No. 12 Texas or Maryland on Saturday at 3 p.m. Live results for ITA Kickoff Weekend are available online with live streaming provided by Playsight.
BU is 4-2 all-time against the Cougars, with their most recent match happening on March 28, 2024, in Provo, Utah, where the Bears fell 4-3. In doubles on Court One, Zuzanna Kubacha and Sierra Berry took down No. 40 Emilee Astle and Kendall Kovick 7-6 (4). No. 60 Liubov Kostenko and Baylor alum Isabella Harvison also defeated Kara Wheatley and Tina Li on Court Three 6-2 to give Baylor the doubles point. In singles on Court Four, Kubacha picked up a hard fought 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory over BYU's Kara Wheatley.
Baylor is beginning the season with their seventh 1-0 start in the last 10 years after sweeping Harvard 7-0 on Saturday.
The Bears started with a doubles loss on Court Three, but had back-to-back wins on Courts One and Two, including a dominant 6-1 victory from No. 13 Kostenko and Cristina Tiglea on Court One.
In singles, the freshmen continued to shine with No. 76 Na Dong and No. 118 Wenfei Yu starting strong garnering 6-0 wins in the first set on Courts Four and Six, respectively. Both finished their matches with wins including Yu's second set comeback 6-0, 7-6 (3).
Kubacha also went on to have a big victory over Harvard's Maxi Duncan, going 6-2, 6-0.
