The freshman is the third different freshman to claim the award this season
WACO, Texas – Baylor volleyball freshman Bailey Warren was named the Big 12's Rookie of the Week, announced Tuesday by the league office.
The Houston, Texas, native is Baylor's third different player to win the award this year, marking the first time since 2022 and the second time in program history the Bears have had three different players win rookie of the week.
Warren delivered a career performance in Baylor's five-set win over No. 17 BYU last week, erupting for 27 kills, the most by a Baylor player this season and the most by a BU freshman since Kyndal Stowers' 29 at SMU in September 2023.
Warren hit an efficient .254 on 67 swings, coming through in crucial moments. She recorded a match-high six kills in the fourth set to force a decisive fifth set, where she notched three more kills, sparking a 10-3 run to seal BU's second top-25 win of the season.
Facing the Big 12 Preseason Freshman of the Year, Suli Davis, Warren's 27-kill performance tied for the most by a freshman and the eighth-most overall in the conference this season.
Shining brightest when the lights are the brightest, Warren now has a team-high 82 kills in seven matches against ranked foes this season.
She joins fellow freshmen Ksenia Rakhmanchick and Morgan Madison, who have also been tabbed as rookies of the week this season.
The Bears return to action on Wednesday night when they open a two-match road swing, beginning at Iowa State at 6:30 p.m. ESPN+ will have the coverage, with stats available all season at Baylorbears.com/stats.
