Four incoming Bears bring experience from junior pros
WACO, Texas – Baylor men's tennis announced the signing of four student athletes to its 2026 recruiting class with Radek Chodora, Matei Ene, Gordon Gallagher and August Bröstrom Poulsen.
"I am really excited about the class we have coming in next fall," said head coach Michael Woodson. "Throughout the recruiting process, our goal was to identify young men that have high aspirations for their tennis and a work ethic to help get them there. We have a great combination of skills and experiences throughout the four signees that I'm sure will make an impact on our program both on and off the court. Though we are focused on the task at hand this season, we can't help but feel confident in the direction we are going with this group of student-athletes."
Chodora, a native of Prague, Czechia, brings promising young talent from the Czech junior circuit with a strong international resume. Chodora recently won the ITF J100 tournament in Wolfsberg, Austria and also claimed the Czech National U18 Singles and Doubles Titles at the Pardubice Junior Championship. Chodora holds a career-best No. 4 national junior ranking and an ITF ranking of 148. Son of Darina Chodorova and Tomas Chodora, he plans on majoring in pre-business in the fall.
Ene, coming from Bucharest, Romania, has competed at a high level in international junior tournaments, winning singles titles at J60 Lledia and J100 Sobota, and doubles titles at J30 Silla and J60 Skopje. Ene developed his game at Wosley Hall Oxford and earned a career-best ITF junior ranking of 205. Ene is the son of Oana and Marius Ene.
Gallagher, coming to Waco from New Canaan, Connecticut, is a 6'3 right-handed player from the Van der Meer Tennis Academy. Gallagher is ranked among the top-30 nationally in the class of 2026 and stands as No. 1 in both Connecticut and New England. Gallagher is the son of Timothy and Jenifer Gallagher.
Broström Poulsen, from Copenhagen, Denmark, has won multiple Danish national-doubles championships, six in total, and holds a total of 10 junior ITF doubles titles, including two J30, three J60, three J100, one J200 and one J300. Bröstrom Poulsen has represented Denmark in European U12, U14 and U18 competitions and plans to major in international business at Baylor. He is the son of Sascha Bröstrom and Thomas Poulsen and also the brother of men's tennis alum Oskar Brostrom Pouslen, who recently graduated from BU in the spring of 2025.
The four future Bears plan to begin their collegiate careers in the fall of 2026.
