VB’s Madison Wins Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week

BU boasts Big 12-best seven weekly awards
WACO, Texas – Baylor volleyball raked in another Big 12 honor Tuesday, as Morgan Madison was tabbed as the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week.
This is the third-straight week a Bear has been honored as Ksenia Rakhmanchik was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week in each of the two previous weeks. Winning her first defensive player of the week award, Madison now gives BU a league-leading seven weekly awards this season. She joins fellow freshmen Rakhmanchik and Bailey Warren to lay claim to all seven of Baylor's weekly awards this season.
A two-time conference rookie of the week, Madison put together a stellar defensive performance against Texas Tech last week, recording a career-high 31 digs, which tied for the second-most in a four-set match in Baylor history.
The Magnolia, Texas, native anchored a Baylor back row that produced 68 total digs, its highest in a four-set match this season, repeatedly neutralizing the Red Raiders' hitters and extending rallies that Baylor converted into points.
With the second-most digs in a four-set match in the Big 12 this year, the freshman has now handled 96% of her 446 chances this season.
Madison and the Bears get back to work on Wednesday afternoon, when they travel to Fort Worth to take on the 20th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs at 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+, with stats available through Baylorbears.com/Stats.
