The freshman earns second weekly honor of the season after averaging 22.5 points in three days
IRVING, Texas – Baylor men's basketball freshman standout Tounde Yessoufou garnered his second Big 12 weekly honor of his career after being named to the Big 12 Starting Five, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
Yessoufou helped Baylor become the second Big 12 team all-time to score 110 points in back-to-back games, while adding 22.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest.
In Baylor's second game of the weekend against Southern on Sunday afternoon, Yessoufou boasted a career-best of 28 points, along with dishing out a career-high of six assists.
The freshman snagged double-digits in BU's 113-56 and 111-67 wins over Alcorn State and Southern in the span of three days. Yessoufou has reached double-figures in all 11 games this season for Baylor, which ties for sixth among active streaks of Big 12 players in consecutive games with 10-plus points to begin their career.
Yessoufou contributed to Baylor's 71-point second half against Southern, the most points in a half by BU since 1970. Additionally, the Cotonou, Benin, native added to Baylor's 113 point win over Alcorn State, the most points scored by the Bears in the Foster Pavilion since opening it on Jan. 2, 2024.
