
MBB’s Edgecombe and Omier Named to AP All-Big 12 Second Team

BU represented on the 10-team squad for the sixth-straight year
WACO, Texas – Baylor men's basketball's VJ Edgecombe and Norchad Omier earned a spot on the media's All-Big 12 Second Team announced Tuesday by the Associated Press.
On Monday, both earned All-Big 12 end of the year honors, as Edgecombe was named Big 12 Freshman of the Year, All-Big 12 Second Team and All-Big 12 Freshman Team, while Omier allocated a spot on the All-Big 12 First Team and All-Newcomer Team.
The Bahamian rookie ranks 12th in the conference, first among freshmen, with 15.00 points per game. Edgecombe's presence has been a major effect for the Bears as he averages 32.4 minutes per game, ninth in the conference. His 5.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game rank third among Big 12 freshmen.
Omier leads the Big 12, averaging 10.7 rebounds, with 15.58 points per game. Omier is one double-double shy from breaking the Baylor single-season record, holding 19 double-doubles this season. With 1,646 career rebounds and counting, Omier is 33 boards shy from entering the top-10 in NCAA career rebound leaders.
No. 7 seed Baylor opens play at the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Championship with a second round matchup at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+. Baylor will await the winner of No. 10 Kansas State or No. 15 Arizona State.
