
SB Falls Against No. 13 Oklahoma State, 9-5

Cowgirls even the series at 1-1
STILLWATER, Okla. – Baylor Softball fell against No. 13 Oklahoma State, 9-5, Saturday afternoon at Cowgirl Stadium to even the three-game series at 1-1.
THE RUNDOWN
Baylor got off to a hot start against the Cowgirls, scoring in the top of the first and carrying the lead until the fourth inning. To leadoff the game, Presleigh Pilon roped a double to right-center before moving to third on a sacrifice bunt to put a runner in scoring position early. With a runner on third, Shaylon Govan laced a single through the left side to pick up the RBI and put BU on top 1-0.
After allowing the leadoff batter to get on for the Cowgirls, Lexie Warncke and the Baylor defense forced three-straight groundouts to end the threat.
Brooklyn Carter singled for the Bears in the top of the second, before Baylor worked out of a jam in the bottom half on the inning when the Cowgirls lined into a double play.
Tacking on two runs in the third, Amber Toven led things off with a single before Govan walked and they moved to second and third on a sacrifice bunt. Abi Flores loaded the bases when she reached on a fielder's choice and two runs came home on a double from Karynton Dawson to put the Bears out front 3-0.
Getting a run back in the third, Oklahoma State hit a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the third before retiring the next three batters.
The Bears got two runners on in the top of the fourth, but it was OSU who made a statement in the bottom half of the inning bringing six runs home. After a leadoff home run the Cowgirls capitalized on timely hits and walks to go up 7-3 on the Bears.
A foul out sacrifice from Oklahoma State added an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth before Baylor tried to battle back in the sixth.
With two outs in the top of the sixth, Pilon was hit by a pitch before Toven singled and Govan walked to load the bases for Turiya Coleman. Capitalizing on an Oklahoma State error, Baylor plated two runs in the sixth to cut the Cowgirls lead to three runs.
Extending the lead back to four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Oklahoma State added their ninth and final run of the day off of a single up the middle to secure the win.
