Bears prepare to host Lions for first time
WACO, Texas – The top-ranked Baylor acrobatics & tumbling team is ready to take on No. 10 Saint Leo at the Ferrell Center on Saturday night.
The meet will start at 5 p.m. CT at the Ferrell Center, with tickets available here. The Lions jumped up three spots in the rankings from the NCATA going into the week, while Baylor retained its top spot.
Coming into Saturday's meet, the Bears (7-0) face the Lions (4-1) for the third time in program history. BU holds a 2-0 record over the Lions, however, this will be Baylor's first time hosting them.
Baylor is 111-23 all-time as a program and 102-2 under 11th-year head coach Felecia Mulkey. The Bears will be honoring those who came before them for their Alumni meet.
BU is coming off a home win over No. 8 Iona, outscoring the Gaels by more than 19 points to take the win.
On Wednesday, Leavy McDonald brought home another NCATA weekly award, Freshman of the Week, her fifth this season. Payton Washington brought home Athlete of the Week for the fourth time. Senior Jordan Gruendler was named Honorable Mention Specialist of the Week for Acro.
The meet with the Lions will be streamed on ESPN+, with Kurtis Quillin and Ashley Echelberger on the call. Fans can follow along with the live scoring sheet or follow the team X account for updates as well. A final scoresheet and recap will be posted to BaylorBears.com after the conclusion of the meet.
