AUSTIN, Texas – Baylor Softball fell against No. 1 Texas, 4-0, Wednesday afternoon at Red and Charline McCombs field in Austin, Texas.
THE RUNDOWN
The Bears tried to bring a run home early in the top of the first after Presleigh Pilon drew a walk and moved to third on a stolen base and groundout, but no runs would come home.
Texas got on the board first in the bottom of the second after three-straight walks loaded the bases and a run came home on a fielder's choice, but a 6-4-3 double play ended the threat.
BU picked up its second double play of the game in the bottom of the third to end the inning an any potential scoring threat.
Turiya Coleman recorded the Bears' lone hit of the game in the top of the fourth inning when she laid down a bunt and moved to second on an error which was followed by a walk issued to Karynton Dawson. With two on, the Bears tried to capitalize but weren't able to bring anyone home as a fielder's choice ended the threat.
A two-run home run put the Longhorns up 3-0 in the bottom half of the fourth before Lillie Walker entered to pitch and recorded a strikeout and groundout to end the inning.
UT added a run on a sacrifice fly to go up 4-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning
Down to its last chance in the top of the seventh, Dawson drew her second walk of the game but that would be it as Texas took the midweek win.
