Bears face Bears in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The No. 1-ranked Baylor acrobatics & tumbling team has hit the road to face Missouri State on Saturday evening at the Hammond Center, with the meet kicking off at 5 p.m. CT.
The Bears (4-0) face the Bears (0-4) for the first time in program history, as Missouri State is in its first year as a program and will be the third different Division I team BU has faced so far this year.
Baylor is on a 42-meet winning streak dating back to the 2021 season and Felecia Mulkey is looking for her 100th win with the Bears, currently sitting at 99.
BU is coming off a 34-point win over No. 7 Azusa Pacific in which the 5-Element Acro Heat scored the first perfect 10 of the season. Top Jordan Gruendler and base Leavy McDonald debuted two new skills in the 7-Element Heat with the stacked-hands handstand and then popping off to two-handed handstand to begin the heat.
Gruendler earned Specialist of the Week, McDonald earned Freshman and Payton Washington was named Athlete after the trouncing of the Cougars – the second week in a row Baylor has swept the NCATA weekly awards and sixth time overall.
Last time out, MoState fell to No. 15 Duquesne, also in its first year, 254.215-140.375. The meet with BU will end a three-meet homestand and the home schedule for the Bears.
The meet will be livestreamed on Missouri State's YouTube account. Fans are encouraged to follow Baylor A&T's X account for live updates on scoring. A full meet recap and final scoresheet will be posted to BaylorBears.com after the conclusion of the meet.
