Bears will travel to No. 17 UCF before coming home to Oklahoma State
WACO, Texas – The No. 16 Baylor men's tennis team prepares for a four-day stretch featuring three matches across two states. The action begins Thursday, April 3 with a top 20 road showdown against No. 17 UCF in Orlando before returning to the Hurd Tennis Center for a Sunday doubleheader against No. 74 Oklahoma State and Prairie View A&M on April 6.
Baylor (17-8, 3-1) carries momentum from last week's successful Utah road trip. Despite losing the doubles point in both matches, the Bears clawed back through strong singles performances to secure 4-2 victories against both No. 50 Utah and No. 57 BYU.
The Bears will be tested on Thursday at 5 p.m. as they face a UCF (16-6, 2-2) squad boasting five ranked wins this season, including an upset of No. 3 Ohio State and two victories over No. 11 Arizona. Though the Golden Knights stumbled on their own trip to Utah with a 4-2 loss to BYU, they remain formidable with two ranked singles players in No. 77 Yassine Dlimi and No. 86 Medhi Benchakroun. Baylor counters with a doubles advantage, fielding four ranked pairs led by No. 18 Marko Miladinovic/Oskar Brostrom Poulsen.
The Bears return to the Hurd Tennis Center on Sunday for a conference clash against Oklahoma State (7-11, 1-3) at 1 p.m. The Cowboys enter on a three-match losing streak following narrow defeats to No. 67 Texas Tech and at No. 35 Arizona State. They will stop at No. 2 TCU for a midweek match on their way to Waco.
Oklahoma State's spring season highlights include wins over No. 59 Tulsa and No. 69 Rice, but they bring just one ranked singles player (No. 107 Isaac Becroft) and one ranked doubles pair (No. 88 Kobelt/Basile) to challenge Baylor's lineup.
After their afternoon match against Oklahoma State, Baylor caps the day with a match against Prairie View A&M at 6 p.m.
Following this week's action, the Bears will host Texas Tech on April 10 for Senior Night before traveling to Fort Worth for their conference finale against No. 2 TCU.
