Bears to compete in third outdoor meet of the season
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Baylor track & field prepares for its third outdoor meet of the season, traveling to the Sunshine State to compete in the Pepsi Florida Relays at the James G. Pressly Stadium from April 4-5 in Gainesville, Fla.
LADIES LEAD AMONG THE TOP OF THE RANKINGS
The first USTFCCCA rankings came out for the 2025 outdoor season, putting the Baylor women at the top of the rankings at No. 9. Three event groups were ranked in the top-10 with BU being stacking in third in pole vault, eighth in the 400 meter hurdles and 10th in the 200m.
BEARS MAKING WAVES IN NCAA
11 Bears currently hold marks inside the top-25 in the NCAA DI Qualifying list. Michaela Francois had a successful meet at the Battle on the Bayou, putting up the 17th best mark of the season at 11.32 in the women's 100m. Tiriah Kelley is in the top-five in the nation in the 200m at 22.96. Amon Malakwen leads for the men in the running events at No. 20 in the 800m at 1:48.80.
Bears have representatives on both sides of the relays as the 4x100 women squad of Kelley, Hannah Lowe, Alexis Brown and Francois hold the No. 9 mark in the NCAA and in BU program history at 43.78. For the men, the 4x400 team of Aren Spencer, Abbas Ali, Ricquan Graham and Tyler Honeyman are at No. 22. Both relay teams will be competing in Gainesville and look to improve their status.
NATIONAL CHAMPION ALEXIS BROWN IS BACK
After making her outdoor debut in the running events at the Battle on the Bayou, reigning indoor long jump national champion Alexis Brown will be competing in the long jump, 100m and 4x100 this weekend. This will mark as Brown's 2025 outdoor debut in the long jump. During her historic indoor season, Brown became the first Baylor student-athlete, male or female, to win a national championship in the long jump, after breaking her program record mark at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships. Named USTFCCA Indoor Women's South Central Region Field Athlete of the Year, her 22-7.75 long jump ranked tied for fourth in D1 Indoor meet history and seven all-time in collegiate history.
ON TOP AT TEXAS RELAYS
Pole vaulters Molly Haywood and Tenly Kuhn were invited to compete at the 2025 Texas Relays in Austin on Saturday, March 29. Haywood in her outdoor season debut lept for a new PR of 14-8, the No. 2 best mark in BU program history. Kuhn also earned a PR, her second one in back-to-back weeks, with a 14-4 mark to move her to fourth in BU history.
