Woodson to add top-ranked Baierl to fall roster
WACO, Texas – Baylor men's tennis head coach Michael Woodson has already began crafting the 2025-26 roster with the big-time addition of Calvin Baierl, coming to Waco as a freshman in the fall.
"We couldn't be more excited to add Calvin to our Baylor Family," said Woodson. "Our staff identified him early in the recruiting process as our top target, not just because he has consistently been ranked nationally as the top player in his age group, but because of his relentless competitiveness and no-quit attitude. He's going to make an immediate impact on this talented and experienced team, and we have no doubt that he will help this program to new heights while developing on and off the court into a true Champion for Life."
Baierl, a Naples, Florida native, is a five-star blue-chip recruit and top-ranked in his recruiting class, earning as high as No. 1 for multiple years based on Tennis Recruiting Network. Baierl signs with Baylor as the No. 6 recruit for the Class of 2025, ranking eighth nationally and fourth in the southeast region.
The incoming freshman holds a career-high ITF junior ranking of 68 in singles and doubles with five junior singles titles underneath his belt.
Baierl has a UTR ranking of 12.52 in singles. In the United States, Baierl ranks 24th among juniors in singles, according to UTR Sports. During the 2025 season, Baierl posted 17-9 singles record and 13-8 doubles record in junior events.
The incoming Bear will join BU in the 2025 fall semester as a freshman.
