Six-foot-11 Mayo Soyoye provides a presence in the frontcourt
WACO, Texas – Baylor men's basketball announced its fourth member of the Class of 2025 on Tuesday, adding Blair Academy's Ramon "Mayo" Soyoye.
A 6-foot-11 forward from Atlanta, Ga., Soyoye is coming off his prep year at Blair Academy in New Jersey. While with the Buccaneers, he helped them to a 24-4 record and the New Jersey Prep Open Championship.
Baylor head coach Scott Drew is excited to add someone with Soyoye's length and athleticism to the frontcourt.
"Our staff is really excited to get to work with a player of Mayo's ability," he said. "He possesses the raw skills and athleticism that could make him a special player as he develops. He is a great fit for our culture of JOY, and I know our fans will enjoy watching him compete every game."
Described as "an elite rim protector" by his coach at Blair, Joe Mantegna, Soyoye previously played for Chapel Hill High School in Georgia. In his time with the Panthers, they were a postseason staple, winning a regional title in 2023 and making the Sweet 16 during Soyoye's final year in 2024.
The fourth member of the class of 2025, he joins five-star prospect Tounde Yessoufou, Link Academy wing Andre Igoudala II and Italian forward Maikcol Perez for the 2025-26 season. In total, BU has inked 12 new players to scholarships this offseason.
