Bears to host two tournaments at Hurd Tennis Center during fall
WACO, Texas – Baylor men's tennis head coach Michael Woodson announced the 2025 fall schedule on Monday afternoon. The Bears will take part in a busy fall with 14 total tournaments on the slate and the NCAA Singles & Doubles Championships, taking place on USTA campus in Orlando.
After a season that made the Hurd Tennis Center the "Home of College Tennis," Baylor will open the season at home with the Waco Fall Kickoff Classic. Following, select Bears will compete in three ITF Futures tournaments through the month of September, one from Sept. 15-21 at Fayetteville, Ark. and the other in Ann Arbor, Mich. from Sept. 22-28 and a final tournament from Sept. 29-Oct. 5 in Winston Salem, N.C.
On Sept. 20-28, the ITA All American Championships will take place in Tulsa, Okla. The ITA tournament features 10 singles players and four doubles teams who are looking to punch their ticket and qualify for the NCAA Singles & Doubles Championships.
In October, BU will host the annual Big 12-SEC Challenge, welcoming select teams from the top two tennis conferences in the country to the Hurd Tennis Center. The Bears will hit the road for the rest of the fall with four ITF Futures tournaments lined up through November.
The Bears will have two final chances to punch their ticket to the NCAA Individual Championships at the ITA Texas Regionals from Oct. 15-19 in College Station where two singles finalists from each region and the doubles champion will qualify to Orlando.
For the ITA Sectionals in Ann Arbor, Mich. from Nov. 6-9, a field of 32 players will battle for six spots in the NCAA Championships bracket with all four semifinalists earning a spot along with two quarterfinal playoff winners. Sixteen doubles tandems will play for three entries to the NCAA Championships with both finalists and the third-place squad earning an invite.
The season will be capped off by the NCAA Individual Championships at USTA National Campus from Nov. 18-23. Last season, BU had four entries with Devin Badenhorst and Oskar Brostrom Poulsen earning bids in singles and duos of Marko Miladinvoic/Brostrom Poulsen and Zsombor Velcz/Badenhorst punching their tickets in doubles.
