Bears look to bounce back from first loss of the season in Sunflower State
WACO, Texas – Baylor soccer hits the road for its first Big 12 trip of the season, facing No. 14 Kansas on Thursday at 6 p.m. and Kansas State on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. Both matches will stream on ESPN+.
The Bears (5-1-2), who dropped their first match of the season in a 1-0 loss to Texas Tech last week, enter the Kansas matchup with a 1-0 record against ranked opponents this year. Baylor earned its first ranked win of the Michelle Lenard era earlier this season, defeating then-No. 17 Mississippi State 1-0.
Kansas (7-0-2) is off to the longest unbeaten start in program history at nine matches and holds its highest ranking since 2020. The Jayhawks opened Big 12 play with a 1-0 win at Oklahoma State and also recorded a 1-1 non-conference draw against No. 2 Florida State.
Baylor and Kansas are tied 13-13-3 in the all-time series. Under Lenard, the Bears are 1-0-1 against the Jayhawks after the programs did not meet in 2024.
Kansas State (5-1-2) will host No. 10 TCU on Thursday before welcoming Baylor to Buser Family Park on Sunday morning. The Wildcats opened league play with a scoreless draw at Colorado last week.
Baylor leads the all-time series with Kansas State 5-1-1. The Wildcats' lone win came in 2022, and the teams last met in 2023 before current head coach Colleen Corbin took over this past offseason.
The Bears sit at No. 19 in the RPI through matches played on Sept. 23. Kansas ranks 12th, while Kansas State is 51st.
