LAWRENCE, Kan. – Baylor soccer made a statement Thursday night, blanking No. 14 Kansas 3-0 at Rock Chalk Park.
The Jayhawks' first loss of the season snapped a program-record nine-match unbeaten streak and marked just their second shutout of the year. For Baylor, the victory was its first in Big 12 play after completing only the second unbeaten non-conference slate in program history.
Kansas applied pressure early with two shots on goal in the opening five minutes. After a defensive first half, Baylor's first shot on frame gave the Bears the lead in the 35th minute.
Aryanna Jimison buried a strike from outside the penalty box off a feed from
Natalie Vatter.
The goal was Jimison's second of the season in her debut year with the Bears. Vatter's assist marked her first point of the junior campaign.
Kansas came out attacking after halftime but came up empty as Baylor put the match out of reach with goals from
Callie Conrad and
Theresa McCullough. Conrad netted her first of the year in the 57th minute, finishing a rebound with McCullough credited for the assist. Six minutes later, McCullough added a goal of her own, set up by Conrad, after working the ball past the keeper.
The victory is Baylor's largest conference road win under head coach
Michelle Lenard and the program's biggest since a 4-0 rout of TCU in Fort Worth in 2019. It was also the Bears' first road win over a ranked opponent since 2021, when they again toppled the Horned Frogs in Funkytown.
Goalkeeper
Azul Alvarez and the Baylor back line earned their sixth clean sheet of the season. KU fired 19 shots but managed only three on goal, while Baylor put seven of its 11 attempts on target.
