WACO, Texas – No. 20 Baylor volleyball opens its home schedule with a three match homestand beginning Thursday night against Northwestern at 6 p.m.

The weekend continues with a 7 p.m. tilt with Saint Mary's (CA), before closing down with a 2 p.m. first serve against former Southwest Conference rival, Rice, on Sunday.

Fresh off a 2-1 trip to the LSU Tournament, head coach Ryan McGuyre is looking forward to building on the good things he saw on opening weekend.

"It was a great opening weekend on a lot of fronts," he said. "Coming out of it, we were able to solidify some of our offense — maybe not the exact lineup, but just who's playing well next to each other and what we can do. I clearly felt like our team came ready to compete and battle, and I love how we did that in all our matches. After a little bit of a rough start for some, they settled in and just got to play volleyball. We saw so many more things that we can continue to grow in and be good at, but I like the foundation that we have coming out of this weekend, and some unknowns were answered."

Baylor enters the weekend with a 49-6 record in the Baylor Classic, including 15-straight, a streak that dates back to 2017. Thursday's match against Northwestern is the first meeting between the two programs in 27 years, and just the fourth overall. Baylor is looking for its first-ever win over the Wildcats in Waco, dropping each of its previous two opportunities. BU is 10-11 against Big Ten opponents under Ryan McGuyre.

Friday will be the first-ever meeting between BU and Saint Mary's, while Sunday's match will mark the 50th all-time meeting between Rice and Baylor. The Bears aim to keep it rolling against the Owls, winners of 13 straight in the series.

Fresh off an impressive opening weekend in Baton Rouge, La., freshman Morgan Madison tallied 50 digs in three matches, netting her Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors, Baylor's first rookie of the week since Kendal Murphy. Manuela Bibinbe is coming off a big weekend of her own, tallying a team-high in kills (42), attacks (89) and points (48.0). Additionally, she added 12 blocks, which ranks third on the team after one week.

John Morris and Hannah Sedwick will have the call on Thursday night, followed by Sedwick and Josh Worden on Friday. The weekend wraps up with Kyle Youmans and Faith Lynch calling the action on Sunday against Rice, with all matches available on ESPN+.
