BUs Creager turns in a second-straight solid performance

CLEMSON, S.C. – Baylor softball dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 24 Clemson on Sunday afternoon at McWhorter Stadium, closing the Clemson Classic with a 2-2 record.

Faith Piper, Sa'Mya Jones and Kaygen Marshall all collected hits on Sunday, but the Bears (11-4) were unable to capitalize going 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position.

Despite the loss, the Bears were led by another strong performance in the circle from sophomore Cambree Creager, who capped a solid weekend at the Clemson Classic.

RUNDOWN

Clemson opened the scoring with a run in the first inning to dig the Bears into an early hole.

The BU offense responded putting runners on the corners with just one out in the top of the second, but Olivia Buettner was caught stealing after an Abi Flores strikeout, which ended the threat.

Clemson responded with another run in the second, pushing across the final run of the game on a solo home run in the fifth.

• Baylor finished the weekend 2-2 in the Clemson Classic

• BU pitching limited Clemson to just 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position

• The Bears' three hits on Sunday were its most against a ranked opponent this season
• Creager logged 11.2 innings in the circle, allowing just three earned runs for a 1.80 ERA, while holding opponents to a .239 batting average, with nine strikeouts
• Abi Flores led the Bears at the plate, hitting .400 with two doubles and a .600 slugging percentage

• Leah Cran posted a .364 average (4-for-11) and reached base at a .417 clip across four games

Baylor remains on the road for a midweek matchup at Sam Houston State on Wednesday in Huntsville, Texas. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m., with the game televised on ESPN+ and broadcast locally on 101.3 COOL FM.
