Story lines
• Baylor will wrap up a 16-day, nearly, 5,000 mile road trip with a visit to Huntsville on Wednesday night for a 6 p.m. first pitch against Sam Houston State on ESPN+
• The Bears are 58-30 all-time against the Bearkats and winners of 13-straight over Sam
• BU will return to Getterman Stadium for a three-game weekend set with McNeese State beginning with a double-header Saturday, slated for a 2 p.m. first pitch
• The series with McNeese kicks off a season-long seven-game homestand, that wraps with BU's first conference weekend of the year against Iowa State
• The Bears are 28-9 all-time against the Cowgirls with BU winning seven of the last eight
• Baylor's director of Ops, Dani Price, played for McNeese for four years from 2008-12, before later returning as an assistant in 2018, where she served for a couple more seasons before becoming an assistant at Georgia State
• The Bears will look to continue their strong play at home, boasting a 5-1 record inside the friendly confines this season
• Baylor has a 492-194 mark all-time at Getterman Stadium and, BU has had a winning record in all but one full season of competition since its doors were opened in 1999
• Baylor is beginning to hit its stride in the circle as transfers Peyton Tanner (Tennessee) and Cambree Creager (Arizona State) have established themselves as the lead pitchers in the rotation
• After inconsistent playing time a season ago, Tanner has already surpassed her workload from her freshman season, and Creager will likely eclipse her career-highs this coming week
• Tanner is enjoying one of the best stretches of her young career going 3-2 with a 2.21 ERA, 23 strikeouts and two saves in her last eight appearances
• Over her last five appearances, Creager has gone 3-1 with 22 strikeouts across 24.0 innings for a 1.75 ERA, including allowing just three runs over 4.2 innings of work against No. 24 Clemson last week
• While Creager is top-10 in the Big 12 in innings pitched (33.2), she and Tanner rank in the top-10 in Strikeouts (Tanner 8th (29); Creager 9th (28))
• Preseason All-Big 12 Selection Brooklyn Carter continues to be a force at the bottom of the lineup, hitting .452 this season, which is eighth in the Big 12, while her .514 on-base clip ranks ninth.
• BU went 4-1 in the Campbell/Cartier Classic, outscoring their opponents 27-11, including a split with (RV) San Diego State, with BU winning the finale between the two 11-2
• Against the Aztecs, Freshman Kaygen Marshall became just the fourth BU freshman since 2015, and the first since 2021 to belt two homeruns in the same game
• Moore enters his 30th season as a head coach, making him the fifth-longest tenured power-conference head coach
• His 1,092 career wins put him ninth among all active coaches (6th among power-conference coaches)
• The Bears have 14 matchups against teams featured in the ESPN/USA Softball Preseason Top 25 including dates with both of the Preseason No. 1 teams (Texas Tech and Texas)
• BU has remaining home dates with No. 1 Texas (3/21), No. 11 Texas A&M (4/15) and No. 20 Oklahoma State (4/24-26), with road contests scheduled at No. 12 Clemson (2/21), at RV UCF (3/13-15), at No. 1 Texas (3/20) and at No. 1 Texas Tech (4/30-5/2).
• Carter represented the Bears on this seasons Preseason All-Big 12 Softball squad, BU's fifth preseason all-conference selection in the five-year history of the preseason team
• Carter has 76 career stolen bases, which is eighth-best in the country and second-best in the Power Four
• Picked eighth in the Preseason Big 12 Coaches Poll, Baylor has met or outperformed its preseason expectations in 17 of Moore's 25 previous seasons at Baylor
• Tasked with replacing several key players, including the programs second three-time All-American in Shaylon Govan, the Bears bring in a mix of experienced veterans and talented newcomers.
• The Captain of the defense, Toven brings 178 games of college experience into 2026, including 133 in Green and Gold
• Toven teams up with a new double-play partner, Piper, who replaces Presleigh Pilon at second base. The Duo is gunning for the program record for double-plays in a season (31 in 2023), after BU tallied 28 twin-killings in 2025
• Robinson, Texas, native Marshall was named to D1Softball's D100 freshmen watch list, joining her fellow freshmen, Gusman and Haas on the Softball America Big 12 Freshman Watch List
• Marshall (Robinson), Harper Haas (Midway) Savanna Pogue (Crawford) all played their high school ball within 25 miles of Getterman Stadium, with Haas and Marshall playing less than 10 miles away from their college home
• Haas (2025), Marshall (2025) and Pogue (2022) all led their teams to UIL Texas State Championships
• Toven (Arizona, 2022), Carter (Washington, 2023) and Tanner (Tennessee, 2025) all boast Women's College World Series experience at their former stops
• Baylor debuted it's new Peggy Hawkins Softball Locker Room this January after a five-month renovation. Loyal softball supporters helped BU fund a transformational project that exceeded half a million dollars
• It's fitted with flat-screen TVs, a lounge, a nutrition center, a hallway vanity and several other State-of-the-Art amenities
• Working with the local architecture firm, RBDR, Former Baylor Player Zadie LaValley (2021-24) was instrumental in helping design the new space for her former team
