
No. 8 MT to Start Conference Play at No. 15 Arizona and No. 25 Arizona State Out West

Baylor is headed to the Grand Canyon State to open the conference season
TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 8 Baylor men's tennis will face two top-25 teams of No. 15 Arizona on Friday at 4 p.m. CT followed by No. 25 Arizona State on Sunday at 3 p.m. CT to begin Big 12 conference play.
The Bears (12-6) are coming off their UTR Collegiate Championship win that ended in a decisive victory over Pepperdine in the finals. Zsombor Velcz snagged the winning point for Baylor in a clutch tiebreak over his opponent, taking the match for the Bears.
Arizona (14-3) is currently on a nine-game win streak, only dropping one point in its last five matches, with a home record of 8-1. The Wildcats hold a 5-3 advantage over the Bears in all-time series play and BU looks to snap the four-match losing streak held against the Wildcats. Arizona's roster boasts four nationally ranked singles players, most notably No. 3 Jay Friend, and one ranked doubles team.
Arizona State (13-5) holds an undefeated 4-0 home match record and has one nationally ranked player on their roster. In all-time series play, the Bears have consistently stayed on top of the Sundevils with a 10-3 record.
The Bears have four nationally ranked singles players on their roster as well as their No. 69 doubles team, Velcz and Alexandru Chirita.
