Bears to host Auburn, Santa Clara and Tulsa at Hurd Tennis Center for NCAA First/Second Rounds
WACO, Texas – For the first time since 2022, Baylor men's tennis will begin its road to the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Team Championships at the Hurd Tennis Center, hosting the first and second rounds in Waco. During Monday afternoon's selection show, the Bears heard their name called for the 28th consecutive year.
The No. 10 seed Baylor (22-9) begin play against Tulsa (19-12) in the first round at the Hurd Tennis Center. With a first-round win, BU would face the winner of Auburn (16-10) and Santa Clara (19-4) in the second round.
Baylor faced Tulsa earlier this season in January at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center, sweeping the Golden Hurricanes 4-0.
The last time the Bears hosted the first and second rounds in Waco was in 2022, where then No. 3 Baylor took down Abilene Christian, 4-0 and Texas A&M, 4-2. Baylor went on to host the super-regional round, defeating Stanford, 4-3, before falling to Tennessee in the quarterfinals in Illinois.
Baylor holds a combined record of 43-7 in the first two rounds of the tournament and an overall mark of 68-26 in the NCAA tournament.
First- and second-round competition in the NCAA Championship is held across 16 regional campus sites from May 1-2. The winner of each regional advances to a super-regional comprised of just two teams on May 8 or 9. The quarterfinals, semifinals and championship match will be held in Athens, Georgia at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex from May 14-17. Fans looking to purchase tickets can click here.
