
Baylor Athletics Sets Record Spring Term GPA of 3.45

All 19 programs surpass 3.0 for the first time
WACO, Texas – Baylor Athletics has achieved the best departmental term grade-point average on record, excluding COVID-affected terms, after student-athletes posted a combined 3.45 GPA in the Spring 2026 semester. Making history this spring, all 19 Baylor athletic programs surpassed a 3.0 GPA in the same term.

The Spring 2026 results continue the streak of academic achievement for the Bears. Baylor has now recorded a 3.0 or higher term GPA for the 36th consecutive semester, a 3.1 or above for the 31st straight semester, and has exceeded a 3.2 GPA in 24 of the last 26 semesters. The department's current cumulative GPA stands at 3.41.

"This historic milestone is a testament to the relentless work ethic, resilience, and academic dedication of our student-athletes," said Josh Young, Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services. "To have every single one of our teams achieve above a 3.0 GPA, for the first time ever, coupled with a record-breaking 3.45 GPA, speaks volumes about the culture of excellence we strive for at Baylor."

Of the department's 496 student-athletes, 372 (75%) earned a 3.0 GPA or higher this spring, while 140 (30%) were named to the Dean's List by posting a 3.7 GPA or better. An additional 76 student-athletes (16%) achieved a 4.0 term GPA. Baylor counted 303 Academic Champions, an honor that includes graduates, student-athletes with a 3.5 GPA or higher, and those recording a personal-best GPA. Among the Academic Champions, 183 Bears set a personal-best term GPA.

Seven programs also set program records for semester GPA, excluding COVID terms: Acrobatics and Tumbling (3.67), Women's Track and Field (3.56), Equestrian (3.55), Men's Track and Field (3.38), Women's Basketball (3.20), Football (3.03) and Men's Basketball (3.01).
