Baylor Places 134 Student-Athletes on Big 12 Academic Honor Rolls

Bears claim 21 Lage Award nominees, 32 Rookie Team and 81 Spring Academic Team honorees across 12 sports
IRVING, Texas – Baylor Athletics had a strong showing in the latest round of Big 12 Conference academic honors, with student-athletes recognized across the Dr. Gerald Lage Award nominees, the All-Big 12 Academic Rookie Team and the All-Big 12 Spring Academic Team.

Twenty-one Baylor student-athletes were nominated for the Dr. Gerald Lage Award, given in memory of Lage, who served as Oklahoma State's faculty athletics representative to the NCAA and the Big Eight/Big 12 Conference from 1983 until his death in 2007. Nominees must have lettered at least once, maintained residence at their institution for a minimum of one academic year, and earned 90 hours of credit with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.80 at the time of nomination.

Baylor also placed 32 student-athletes on the All-Big 12 Academic Rookie Team. To qualify, first-year student-athletes must have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial coursework with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00, appeared in at least one contest, and been on the roster for their sport's entire NCAA championship segment.

In addition, 81 Baylor student-athletes earned spots on the All-Big 12 Spring Academic Team. To be eligible, student-athletes must hold a 3.20 GPA or higher, either cumulative or over the previous two semesters, and must have appeared in at least 20% of their team's scheduled contests. Seniors who have competed for at least two years but fall short of the participation threshold are also eligible, while freshmen are not.

Twelve of Baylor's Spring Academic Team honorees were nominated with a 4.0 GPA: Caleb Bergman, Jake Kolkhorst, Faith Piper, Peyton Tanner, Luc Koenig, Arman Zamani, Kanalu Wong, Katelyn Andrews, Raynah Cheng, Bella Copeland, Tenly Kuhn and Ella Perry.
