Bears and Waves kick off in first all-time meeting
WACO, Texas – Following Thursday night's defeat of Texas in Austin, Baylor soccer is back at Betty Lou Mays Field to host Pepperdine at 7 p.m. CT. Admission to soccer matches is free at home throughout the regular season, and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
The match features the annual Pups at the Pitch promotion, where fans are invited to bring their four-legged friends, with the first 100 getting a free bandana.
The Bears and the Waves will face off for the first time Sunday in the 31-year history of BU soccer. Pepperdine skipper Tim Ward has led the Waves for 29 seasons, posting a 322-158-80 (.646) record.
Pepperdine, in the midst of a Texas tour, has a 2-0-2 start to its 2026 slate, collecting wins over Colgate and Cal while posting draws against USC and Texas Tech. On Thursday night, the Waves led the Lady Raiders for just three minutes after striking first in the 78th minute before Texas Tech got the goal back in the 81st minute.
The Waves are led by Julia Quinonez's three goals in four games with a game winner, while Kyra Murphy's pair of assists paces the roster.
Baylor continued its run against the SEC on Thursday to move to 3-1-0 on the season at the halfway point of non-conference play. After Sunday's match, the Bears are set to face LSU and Oral Roberts on the road and host Marquette before Big 12 play begins Sept. 24 in Waco against Oklahoma State.
Lauren Omholt and Callie Conrad both lead the Bears with two goals apiece, while Theresa McCullough and Aryanna Jimison scored their first goals of the year at Texas to join Olivia Hess, Noelle Sather and Grace White, who each have one. McCullough and Brynnlee Bohannon have a pair of assists each.
