Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua
- Title:
- Assistant Coach
Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua returns to Baylor as an assistant coach on Scott Drew's staff for the 2026-27 season, reuniting with the program where he became a fan favorite and a key piece of the 2021 national championship team.
Tchamwa Tchatchoua spent the past two seasons with the San Antonio Spurs as a Basketball Operations Video Assistant, contributing to the organization's run to the 2026 NBA Finals and working with notable Spurs players such as Victor Wembanyama.
As a player, Tchamwa Tchatchoua was one of the most respected Bears of the Drew era. He earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and All-Defensive Team honors in 2022 and was named to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Watch List that same season. Teammates and coaches know him as "Everyday Jon" for the consistent energy he brought to the program daily, an identity that became even more meaningful after he returned to the court just 357 days following a severe knee injury that required multiple ligament repairs.
A native of Douala, Cameroon, Tchamwa Tchatchoua moved to Australia to play at the NBA Global Academy before starting his college career at UNLV. He transferred to Baylor, redshirted in 2019-20, and went on to play a key role off the bench for the Bears, including the 2021 national title run.
Tchamwa Tchatchou is married to the former Lauren Harrison, a three-time All-Big 12 First Team honoree for Baylor volleyball from 2020-22, and they have one child together.
