Julio Pulido is in his second season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Baylor men’s tennis team. He helps head coach Matt Knoll and assistant Michael Woodson with the daily operations of the program.
While at BU, Pulido is also taking graduate classes for a master’s degree in sports pedagogy. Prior to arriving at Baylor, Pulido spent time as a Master Pro at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy in New York. He has been a certified coach by the Spanish Tennis Federation and Spanish Padel Federation since the age of 16. Pulido worked at Escuela ACE as tennis and Padel coach. He also directed summer camps and worked at Sportime Amagansett for four years - three as Tennis Camp Director. He co-directed a tennis club in Spain, Club de Tenis La Sieriila, since the age of 17.
In his playing career, Pulido spent two years at Oklahoma Christian University where he helped the program win the 2012 NAIA National Championship. After the OCU program was cancelled, he transferred to New York Institute of Technology. At NYIT, Pulido played the No. 1 position in singles and doubles. During his junior and senior years, he won two East Coast Conference Championships (2014, 2015), was named East Coast Conference first team and East Coast Conference Player of the Year in both years.
Pulido is a 2015 graduate of the New York Institute of Technology with a degree in finance. He is a native of Caceres, Spain.
