SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Baylor guard Sheila Lambert was named to the 10-member Kodak All-America team during ceremonies today at the Women's Final Four in San Antonio.

The Kodak All-America Awards honor the best collegiate women's basketball players, based upon the present-year statistics and achievements, impact on the team, success of the team, sportsmanship and attitude, and academic eligibility. Members of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association nominate student-athletes and district committee selects finalists. A national committee, made up of WBCA members, selects the 10-member national team.

Joining Lambert on the 2002 team are Chantelle Anderson of Vanderbilt, Alana Beard of Duke, Sue Bird, Swin Cash and Diana Taurasi of Connecticut, Stacey Dales of Oklahoma, Kelly Mazzante of Penn State, Nicole Powell of Stanford, and LaToya Thomas of Mississippi State.

Dales and Thomas are the only repeat honorees from the 2001 team.

In addition to earning Kodak All-American honors, Lambert was a first-team all-Big 12 selection, named AP All-American (third team) and recipient of the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award which honors the nation's best player 5'8" or under. In addition, she was a finalist for the Naismith Player of the Year and the Nancy Lieberman-Cline Step Up Award, given to the nation's top collegiate point guard.

The 5-7 Seattle native averaged 19.9 points, 6.6 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 3.2 steals a game this season. She set Baylor records for assists in a season with 216 and after only two seasons she ranks No. 3 on Baylor's career assist list with 398. In her two years at Baylor, Lambert averaged 20.9 points, 6.3 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 3.1 steals.

Lambert is the second Baylor women's basketball player to earn Kodak All-American honors. Suzie Snider Eppers was named to the 10-member squad in 1977.

Founded in 1981, the WBCA promotes women's basketball by unifying coaches at all levels to develop a reputable identity for the sport and to foster and promote the development of the game as an amateur sport for women and girls.

Kodak recognizes the accomplishments of young athletes and the positive recognition they bring to their school by displaying their talents on the basketball floor. The company has sponsored the Kodak Women's All-America Basketball Team for 29 years. In addition to its sponsorship of the Kodak All-America Team, Kodak is a worldwide sponsor of the Olympic Games.
