The Baylor women's golf team is set to defend its title in Houston Monday and Tuesday at the "Mo"Morial Invitational hosted by Texas A&M at Blackhorse Golf Club.
The Bears have competed in the "Mo"Morial Invitational every year since 1998 and have four Top 5 finishes. The Bears took the tournament championship in 2003, shooting 310-300=610. Melanie Hagewood also took individual medalist honors.
The Bears are coming off an eighth place finish last week at the Central District Invitational hosted by Michigan State at River Wilderness Country Club in Parrish, Fla...Sophomore Josefin Svenningsson led Baylor by tying for 13th...Sophomore transfer Meredith Jones had a tremendous showing and would also have scored 228 if not for having her first-round score disqualified.

Sweet-Swinging Svenningsson
Sophomore Josefin Svenningsson has been the Bears' top finisher in each of the last three tournaments, including a victory to cap off the fall at the adidas Fall Invitational hosted by Notre Dame...This season, Svenningsson has shattered Baylor's 54-hole record with a 210 at the adidas Fall Invitational and a pair of record-tying rounds of 69.
Looking Ahead
Baylor will take next weekend off before heading to the Xavier Invitational at Carambola Golf Club in St. Croix, Virgin Islands...It will be the Bears' first appearance in the event.
