The Baylor women's golf team matched the 309 final-round total of leader SMU to remain 13 strokes back and finish second, its third Top-2 finish this season, at the St. Croix Collegiate Classic hosted by Xavier at the 6,020-yard, par-72 Carambola Golf Club Sunday.
Freshman Anna Rehnholm (79-76-73=228) led the Bears by finishing third, the highest finish of her career. Sophomore Josefin Svenningsson (76-79-81=236), senior Michaelyn Morgan (77-80-79=236) and sophomore Meredith Jones (77-80-79=236) each finished tied for 16th. The finish was also the highest of Jones' career. Senior Kelli McKandless (84-79-77=240) tied for 26th.
SMU (296-311-309=916) won the team title by 13 strokes over the Bears (306-314-309=929), who finished 12 strokes ahead of third-place Texas Tech (317-321-309=947). Illinois State's Samantha Richdale (76-76-74=226) took individual medalist honors by one stroke over SMU's Kristina Rothengatte (73-75-79=227) and two strokes over Rehnholm and SMU's Laura Cross (75-79-74=228)
The Bears return to action when they host the BU-Tapatio Springs Shootout Friday through Sunday at Tapatio Springs Resort in Boerne, Texas.
