WACO, Texas - Fresh off returning from the NCAA Central Regional, where the Baylor women's golf team clinched its first-ever berth in the NCAA Championship, head coach Sylvia Ferdon announced the signing of Sian Reddick and Meg McDaniel to national letters of intent. The pair will join the Bears for the 2004-05 academic year.

Reddick was the top qualifier in the English Girls Championship with a score of 140 (68-72) and made the final 32 for match play and was also the top qualifier for the British Girls National Championship with a score of 143 (71-72). Reddick was the 2002 and 2003 Kent Girls champion and posted runner-up finishes at the 2003 Daily Telegraph National Grand Prix Final, the Champion of Champions and the English Schools Championship. Reddick attends Pent Valley High School in Folkestone, England.

"I am extremely excited about having Sian (pronounced SHON) be a part of our program," Ferdon said. "She is one of the top junior recruits out of Great Britain and has accomplished an incredible amount of success in only playing seriously for the last three years. When you look at her record at the national level, you know she can step into our program and make an immediate impact on our team."

During her career at Commerce High School, McDaniel was the 2003 regional champion and the runner-up in 2004 as well as the four-time District 10-3A champion and three-time qualifier for the state UIL championship. McDaniel, a native of Campbell, Texas, has multiple victories on the North Texas PGA Tour, and was also a two-year letterwinner in soccer. Off the course, McDaniel is the president of the National Honor Society and a recipient of the President's Student Service Award.

"Meg is a perfect fit for Baylor," Ferdon said. "She matches my philosophy of being both intelligent and athletic. After talking with her about her goals, it is apparent that she is a very high achiever. She was looking out of state, and I am glad we kept this Texan home."

Reddick and McDaniel join Stephanie Waters, who signed during the early period from L.C. Anderson High School in Austin, in Baylor's 2004-05 signing class. The Bears return to action when they make their first-ever appearance at the NCAA Championship hosted by Auburn May 18-21 at Grand National Lake Course in Opelika, Ala.
