WACO, Texas - The Baylor University women's basketball team will be featured on ESPN2, FSN (Fox Sports Net) and College Sports Television (CSTV) national telecasts 10 times during the 2005-06 regular season, head coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson announced today. Baylor's 10 regular season national telecasts are a school record, besting the previous record of eight in 2004-05.
The Lady Bears wil be featured on ESPN2 twice during regular season play. Mulkey-Robertson's charges will open the season on ESPN2 when they take on Georgia on Nov. 13 in Lubbock, Texas, as one of two games in the State Farm Women's Tip-Off Classic. This is the second straight Tip-Off Classic appearance for the Lady Bears, last year LSU topped Baylor, 71-70. Baylor will make another ESPN2 appearance on Jan. 30 when it travels to Baton Rouge, La., to play LSU, a team it split with last season.
Coach Mulkey-Robertson's Lady Bears will make six appearances on FSN beginning with their Nov. 18 non-conference contest against UCLA in Waco (7:00 p.m.). Five Big 12 Conference matchups are: Texas (Sat., Jan. 7, 3 p.m.); at Texas Tech (Sun., Jan. 15, 2 p.m.); at Oklahoma (Sun. Feb. 12, 2:30 p.m.); Texas Tech (Sun., Feb. 19, 2 p.m.); at Texas (Wed., March 1, 7:30 p.m.).
CSTV will broadcast two Baylor games nationally as well. On Jan. 28 at 3 p.m., Baylor and Kansas will tangle on CSTV while the Lady Bears and Nebraska will face off on Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. Both games will broadcast from the Ferrell Center in Waco.
In addition to regular season appearances, the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Championship quarterfinal, semifinal and championship games will be televised by FSN.
In addition, game times for Baylor's matchups with California (Nov. 26) and Marshall (Nov. 27) in the Caribbean Classic in Cancun, Mexico, have been set, both contests are slated to begin at 1:30 (CST).
