NORMAN, Okla. - The Baylor women's golf team opened with an 8-over par 296 to lead by two strokes after the first round of the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic Sunday at The Trails Golf Club, a 6,017-yard, par-72 tract. Two rounds were supposed to be played Sunday, however severe weather cut the day short and two rounds will be played Monday.

Junior Meredith Jones (Eugene, Ore.) is tied for the lead with an even-par 72, while junior Josefin Svenningsson (Gislaved, Sweden) is one stroke off the pace and tied for fourth at one-over par 73.

Sophomore Anna Rehnholm (Karlskrona, Sweden) is tied for 11th with a 75, and freshman Stephanie Waters (Austin, Texas) is tied for 15th at 76, making her first career start for the Bears. Freshman Sian Reddick (Folkestone, England) is tied for 22nd at 77.

Jones is tied with SMU's Lacey Jones and Tulsa's Cas Bridge. Baylor leads the tournament by two strokes over Missouri and Tulsa, by three over SMU and 11 over fifth-place Texas Tech.
