How has your team performed compared to your expectations?
I expected them to play hard and compete. I don't think it's fair for me to say that we would play three top-25 teams in a row and win two out of the three, but I'm not surprised either.
Did you expect Bernice Mosby to get off to such a fast start after sitting out a year?
You hope she would (get out to a fast start). She's a fifth-year senior and this is her second year in the program. She needs to lead us, so we needed a good start from her. I can't tell you that I've given much thought to her being rusty or out of sync. You would think she should be anxious to play.
How are the freshman progressing and are they living up to their billing?
I don't know what other people expected out of them, but I know what my expectations are and I know what they're capable of. We're not there yet - one will have a good day and tomorrow they're a totally different player, but when you get them all playing well on the same day, that's when you know you've got a good basketball team. That's what you get with freshman - you have good days and bad days.
With seven newcomers and two new coaches, how is the chemistry this season?
I think it's great. The new coaches have fit in well, their personalities are the types that attract recruits and our players feel comfortable with them. The hardest part for them as coaches is learning my system and how everything is taught, but I'm very pleased with both of them.
How was your trip to the Bahamas? What do these trips mean for your program?
Every program will say that it helps with recruiting. You get to see places that you may not have otherwise seen if it weren't for playing basketball at this level. We played two games and were able to get two wins, so that obviously helps you enjoy those trips more.
