Lady Bear Hoops Signs Four

WACO, Texas - The Baylor Lady Bear basketball program signed four players to National Letters of Intent (NLI), head coach Kim Mulkey announced today. Inking with Baylor in the early signing period, which began today, were guards Terran Condrey (Eufaula, Ala.), Lindsay Palmer (Tulsa, Okla.) and Cherrish Wallace (Pasadena, Calif.) as well as post Ashley Field (Lampasas, Texas). Additional signings could follow during the early signing period which runs through Nov. 21.

After claiming the 2005 NCAA championship and playing in six NCAA Tournaments in Mulkey's first seven seasons, Baylor continues to recruit players nationally as evidenced by the signing of three players from outside Texas.

"We are very pleased with the signing of this group of outstanding student-athletes. Their addition will help us continue to keep our program at an elite level and a level that allows us to compete each year for the Big 12 Conference and NCAA championships," said Mulkey. "All of these players are impact players who possess minds for the game of basketball and winning attitudes. All four of them are a perfect fit for our basketball program."

GUARDS (listed in alphabetical order)
Terran Condrey - 5-7, Eufaula, Ala., Eufaula HS

Terran Condrey averaged 25.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 6.6 assists a game as a junior at Alabama's Eufaula High School where she led the Lady Tigers to a 21-6 record. Throughout her varsity career the Lady Tigers are 43-13 and have two sub-regional championships to their credit. Condrey earned 2007 first-team Class 5A all-state honors, was named to the Alabama Sports Writers Association all-state team and was an Alabama Player of the Year finalist. . Condrey is the cousin of former Tennessee All-American Gwen Jackson.

"Upon arriving at Baylor for my official visit, I was immediately surrounded by nice, friendly people and a warm environment. I was very impressed with the coaching staff and players, not to mention the school and all of its attributes. I decided that this is where I would like to continue my education and basketball career. I know my parents feel confident in my choice. I am very proud to be a Baylor Lady Bear," said Condrey.

Lindsay Palmer - 5-10, Tulsa, Okla., Tulsa Union HS
Lindsay Palmer spent her freshman and sophomore years at Tulsa's Memorial High School where she was the state's second-leading scorer in Class 6A as a freshman with 19.6 points a game and 6A's leading scorer as a sophomore at 21.6 points an outing. She transferred to Tulsa's Union High School to begin her junior season where she scored 14.7 points, hauled down 7.1 rebounds, dished out 4.8 assists and registered 2.6 steals a game. Throughout her prep career she has earned first-team all-conference, all-metro and all-state selection all three seasons. Palmer is a McDonald's All-American nominee and was selected a Miss Basketball All-American.

An outstanding student as well as athlete, Palmer ranks in the top three percent of her graduating class.

"I saw the Baylor women's team play on television for the first time when I was in junior high and I loved how intense Coach Mulkey was on the bench. I chose Baylor because of the great atmosphere I experienced with the players and coaches during my visit. When I came to campus it felt right for both academics and athletics," said Palmer.

Cherrish Wallace - 5-6, Pasadena, Calif., John Muir HS
As a two-year starter at Pasadena's John Muir High School, Cherrish Wallace has led the team to two Pacific League championships, the state quarterfinals and a 54-8 record. The point guard averaged 16.3 points, 5.0 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 3.2 steals as a junior when she was named first-team all-area, first-team Pacific League and was a high school All-American honorable mention selection. As a sophomore she received Pacific League MVP honors and was a second-team all-CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) selection.

"I chose Baylor because I like the environment. I wanted to challenge myself and come play in one of the top conferences. Not only that, to be coached by someone (Coach Mulkey) that actually played my position (point guard) will be a great learning experience," said Wallace.

Ashley Field - 6-2, Lampasas, Texas, Faith Academy
Ashley Field is an outstanding student-athlete who excels both in competition and academics. Field spent her freshman and sophomore years at Burnett (Texas) High School where she competed in basketball, track and softball, earning first-team District 25-4A honors in all three sports. In addition, she was district champion in the discus and shot put.

Field continued to post impressive numbers as a junior when she transferred to Marble Falls' Faith Academy, a TAAPS 2A school. Last season she averaged 31.7 points and 12.7 rebounds a contest while leading the team to a 33-4 record and a trip to the state semifinals. For her efforts, Fields was named District MVP, first-team all-state and earned state tournament all-tournament honors. In addition, she garnered TABC-TAPPS Small School 1A-3A Player of the Year recognition and was a finalist for Texas Miss Basketball and Street and Smith All-American honorable mention.

She also was a three-event state champion in track taking gold medals in the discus, establishing a new state record, and running on first-place 4 x 200 and 4 x 400 relays.

The four-year National Honor Society member has twice been named to Who's Who Among American High School Students, both academic and sports editions.

"I have always wanted to play in the Big 12 Conference and represent the state of Texas. Plus it will be an honor to play for one of the all-time greatest coaches ever in Coach Mulkey. I am so excited and ready for the challenges ahead and the opportunities basketball will bring," said Field.
