WACO, Texas - Baylor senior Tim Bush sustained a broken foot in Saturday's game vs. Texas and will be out three to five weeks, potentially ending the career of the third-year forward, head coach Scott Drew announced Tuesday. Bush had surgery Monday on the fractured fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot.
Bush will sit out Wednesday's game vs. Nebraska and thus become the seventh Baylor player this season to miss a game due to medical reasons. Six other players have missed a total of 49 games to date.
Other Baylor players currently nursing injuries are junior Aaron Bruce and sophomore Kevin Rogers. Bruce has missed the last two games due to a high ankle sprain and is questionable to play Wednesday. Rogers came out of Saturday's game with a knee injury but is probable to play Wednesday.
Freshman Penny Thiam suffered a season-ending torn ACL in his right knee in the season's fourth game in November.
Previous injuries included Mamadou Diene (missed five games due to various ankle and knee injuries), Patrick Fields (missed nine games due to knee injury) and Mark Shepherd (missed five games due to shoulder injury and illness).
Bush averaged 6.6 points and 4.1 rebounds this season in 25 games. He transferred from LSU in 2004 and played three seasons for Baylor, appearing in 66 games (41 starts) and totaling 527 career points and 280 career rebounds.
Baylor's next game is Wednesday, Feb. 21, when the Bears host Nebraska at 6:30 p.m. in the Ferrell Center. The game will be televised live in Texas on FSN Southwest.
