WACO, Texas - The Baylor women's golf team will travel to the University of Texas to compete in the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational March 16-18. The 6,323-yard, par-72 University of Texas Golf Course will host Arkansas, Baylor, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Purdue, SMU, TCU and Texas.
Baylor has competed at the invitational seven times since 1997. Their best finish came in 1999 finishing third (318-315-322=955).
Baylor is coming off an outstanding tournament last week at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational. Allison Martin (69-72-71=212) finished first giving the Bears their 16th tournament title.
"We are always excited to be a part of a great traditional tournament like the Betsy Rawls. This invitation has always meant a lot to our program. With only a four day break between tournaments, I hope the team can get their focus back and their game face on," said head coach Sylvia Ferdon. "I like the depth of our team and it will be a matter of having a good game plan for the very tough University of Texas Golf Club."
Ferdon has slotted seniors Allison Martin and Anna Rehnholm, junior Sian Reddick and freshmen Hannah Burke and Natalie Hocott as the starting lineup. Freshman Kristen Hendrix will be competing as an individual.
The Bears will return to action at the Mountainview Collegiate March 24-25 in Tuscon, Ariz. Live stats will be available at www.golfstat.com.
