WACO, Texas - The Baylor women's golf team heads to Arizona to compete in the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational hosted by Western Michigan March 9-11. The 6,277-yard par-72 Rio Verde Country Club will host Arkansas-Little Rock, Ball State, Baylor, Bowling Green, Bradley, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Illinois State, Minnesota, Missouri State, Ohio, Southern Illinois, Texas Tech, Toledo, Western Michigan, Wisconsin and Xavier.
The Bears are coming off of their season opener with a third place finish at the Central District Invitational. Senior Allison Martin finished fourth at the Central District Invitational to lead the Bears while Senior Anna Rehnhom tied at 15th.
This will be Baylor's first appearance at the fifth annual Rio Verde Invitational. The Bears are ranked 46th nationally in the latest Golfweek rankings and 40th according to Golfstat ratings.
"The Bears are excited to be playing in this tournament because of the format being set up to play 6 players and score the low 4," said head coach Sylvia Ferdon. "It is our spring break and it is always nice to include an extra player in your line-up to get the valuable experience. We are coming off of our opening tournament having played well and so we hope to keep that competitive level going."
Ferdon has slotted seniors Allison Martin and Anna Rehnholm, junior Sian Reddick, and freshmen Hannah Burke, Natalie Hocott and Kristen Hendrix as the starting lineup.
The Bears will return to action at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational March 16-18 in Austin, Texas. Live Stats will be available at www.golfstat.com.
