Women's Golf Finishes Third at Big 12 Championship

WACO, Texas - The 36th-ranked Baylor women's golf team shot the second-lowest round of the tournament with a 299 for a three round total 918 to tie the program's highest-ever finish Wednesday at the 2007 Big 12 Championship at the 6,142 yard, par-72 Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, Texas.
Freshman Hannah Burke (Hertfordshire, England) shot a final round 76 to lead the Bears tied for eighth at 230 (77-77-76). Burke was named to the Big 12 All-Tournament Team, finishing among the top 10 at the championship.

"I felt like we spun our wheels a little bit yesterday, but had a great crowd today and was able to close it down a little bit in the end. I really felt that yesterday's back nine was our tournament. We had the lead for a little bit, but had way too many bogeys. Overall, I'm proud of the Baylor Bears," said head coach Sylvia Ferdon.

The Bears will await the NCAA Regional selections April 30. The NCAA Regional Championships will be held May 10-12.
