Baylor freshman Hannah Burke (Hertfordshire, England) and senior Allison Martin (Bakersfield, Calif.) were named to the All-Big 12 Team, the conference announced Thursday. Burke was also named Co-Newcomer of the Year.
Eleven student athletes were selected by the league's head coaches to the All-Big 12 Team. This marks Burke's and Martin's first time to receive the honor.
Martin leads the Bears with a 73.38 spring scoring average. She claimed her first individual title at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational carding a three-round total 212. Martin has also posted one top-five finish, two top-10 finishes and two top-20 finishes this spring.
Burke broke Baylor's all-time freshman record with a 74.28 spring stroke average to finish second for the Bears. She tied for eighth at the Big 12 Championship to earn a spot on the Big 12 All-Tournament Team. Her top finish came at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, finishing third. Burke recorded two top-five finishes, one top-10 finish, and two top-20 finishes this spring.
The Bears await the NCAA regional selections April 30. The NCAA Regional Championships will be held May 10-12 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
