LUBBOCK, Texas - Battling a stiff wind of more than 20 miles per hour for most of the day, the Baylor women's golf team tallied a 607 during the first two rounds of play Monday to top the leaderboard at the Jeannine McHaney/Audrey Morehead Invitational in Lubbock, Texas.

Following a first-day 302 and 305, the Bears sit in first place three shots up on Texas Tech heading into the final 18 holes of play on Tuesday.

"I couldn't be any happier with the way the girls performed today," said head coach Sylvia Ferdon. "The wind was really bad, but we fought through it and posted some really good scores."

Sophomore Lene Hafsten-Morch fired an even-par in both the first and second round on Monday to end the day in second place with a 36-hole total of 146. Hannah Burke, a junior from Hertfordshire, England, is in third, one shot behind Hafsten-Morch with a 147 (73-74).

Teammates Natalie Hocott (79-80) and Morgan Chambers (77-82) are tied for 32nd place overall following a 159 during the first two rounds. Freshman Jaclyn Jansen rebounded from an opening round 85 to shot a 78 during Monday's final 18. Jansen is currently tied for 56th place overall.

Competing as a non-scoring medalist, Baylor sophomore Jordan Rhodes finished the day tied for 21st after tallying a two round total of 156 (76-80).

Baylor will try and win its first tournament of the year when it resumes play Tuesday morning with the third and final round of the Jeannine McHaney/Audrey Morehead Invite with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start at the Rawls Course.
