Alamo Invitational Final Results in PDF Format

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Baylor women's golf team shot 304 Tuesday to finish tied for seventh at the rain-shortened Alamo Invitational at Briggs Ranch Golf Course. Heavy rains cancelled the first two rounds of the UTSA-hosted event Monday.

Tennessee claimed the team title, firing a 1-over 289. Notre Dame and Texas A&M finished tied for second at 4-over 292. Nebraska came in fourth at 14-over 302, followed by Ole Miss and Wisconsin in a fifth-place tie at 15-over 303. Tennessee's Nathalie Mansson and Notre Dame's Annie Brophy shared individual medalist honors at 2-under 70.

"Of course, we were disappointed to have the rain force us into a one-day, 18-hole shootout," Baylor head women's golf coach Sylvia Ferdon said. "Sometimes that's what happens. We didn't come out firing like we needed to today."

Sophomores Chelsey Cothran and Jaclyn Jansen posted Baylor's best individual performances, each finishing tied for 13th at 2-over 74. It is Cothran's first top-15 finish of the season and second of her career (2009 Maxwell-Berning Classic). For Jansen, it is her second top-15 finish of the season; she finished eighth at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic in September.

"We have to learn what we can from today's performance and have a very short memory so we'll be ready to go next week in our final event," Ferdon said. "We definitely want to put together something very positive to close out the semester."

Senior Hannah Burke shot 5-over 77 to finish tied for 28th. Lene Hafsten-Morch finished 39th at 7-over 79, while Morgan Chambers tallied a 14-over 86 to finish tied for 56th.

The Lady Bears conclude their fall schedule Nov. 2-3 in Austin at the Challenge at Onion Creek, hosted by Texas State.
