COLUMBUS, Ind. - Battling windy conditions for a second consecutive day, the Baylor women's golf team finished 16th Saturday at the NCAA Central Regional to conclude the 2009-10 season.

No. 5 USC held off No. 2 Arizona State to take home top team honors, finishing the three-day tournament at 43-over 907. In addition to USC and Arizona State, Purdue, New Mexico, Oklahoma State, Florida State, Oregon and Kent State will each advance to the 29th annual NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship, which will be held May 18-21 in Wilmington, N.C. Georgia's Marta Silva Zamora and Denver' Kimberly Kim both qualified as individuals for the NCAA Championship.

"Somehow, this golf course was too big for us to conquer this week," Baylor head women's golf coach Sylvia Ferdon said. "We shot ourselves out of contention Friday because of the conditions and we just couldn't recover."

Senior Hannah Burke concluded her stellar collegiate career with a 31st-place showing at the NCAA Central Regional. Burke, who carded the third-most pars of the tournament (35), shot a final-round 79 to finish at 19-over (74-82-79=235). Lene Hafsten-Morch bounced back from her second-round 85 Friday, posting Baylor's best score of the final round. Hafsten-Morch's 78 propelled her to finish tied for 56th; the junior also recorded five birdies during the tournament.

"I saw some good things today, but I'm still terribly disappointed all around," Ferdon said. "We had trouble with some shots around the green today and that's something we need to work on heading into next season."

Rounding out play for the Lady Bears were their three remaining underclassmen - sophomore Chelsey Cothran, sophomore Jaclyn Jansen and freshman Melanie White. Cothran (83-76-73=242) and Jansen (82-86-83=251) both tallied a final-round 83, while White finished 119th overall (93-89-93=275).
