TWEET OF THE GAME

WACO, Texas (AP)- Baylor rested its two most prolific scorers and still had no problem with Hardin-Simmons, beating the Cowboys 107-38 on Saturday.

Taurean Prince had 21 points and 15 rebounds for Baylor (12-5), which will host Big 12 rival Oklahoma State in a televised game on Monday, a factor that may have led coach Scott Drew to not play senior guard Pierre Jackson and 7-foot-1 freshman Isaiah Austin, who average a combined 33 points a game.

Cory Jefferson and Rico Gathers each had 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Bears. Brady Heslip scored 15 points, L.J. Rose scored 14 and Deuce Belloscored 10.

Darius Singletary scored eight points to lead Hardin-Simmons (10-6), a Division III school.

Baylor led 11-5 before a 28-2 run put the game out of reach midway through the first half. Rose hit a 3-pointer to open the streak, then had a jumper and a steal and layup on consecutive possessions. Heslip also hit back-to-back 3s during the run, which gave Baylor a 39-7 lead with 7:04 remaining.

Heslip, who hadn't scored in limited playing time during Baylor's last two games, scored 12 in 13 first-half minutes.

The teams swapped baskets for the next three possessions, marking the only time that Hardin-Simmons scored on three consecutive trips down the floor. By then, Baylor was up 43-13 with 5:44 remaining in the first half.

Hardin-Simmons came into the game after losing four players prior to its game against Sul Ross State on Jan. 17, an 84-78 win for the Cowboys. The four had been averaging nearly 35 points and 22 rebounds a game.

Baylor led 56-19 at the half, and opened the second period on a 21-4 run in which Gathers scored seven and Heslip hit another 3.

The Bears struggled at the line, but eventually made 17 of its 30 free-throw attempts. Hardin-Simmons, which shot its first free throw with 1:04 left in the game, was 1 of 3 from the stripe.
