THE RUNDOWN
SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Baylor women's golf team finished Sunday's first round in a tie for sixth place at the Alamo Invitational at Briggs Ranch Golf Club. The Lady Bears shot 1-over-par 289, placing them in a tie with Texas State and three strokes back of Florida State in fifth place.
Baylor trails Arkansas (-13), Auburn (-13), LSU (-9), Texas A&M (-5) and Florida State (-2) after the first of three rounds in the tournament. Senior Hayley Davis, sophomore Hadas Libman and freshman Giovana Maymon all shot even-par 72 and are tied for 24th place. Junior Laura Lonardi and sophomore Louise Gateau-Chovelon are tied for 33rd place after shooting 1-over 73.
Four of five BU players had pars on the starting hole, No. 10, and four BU players also birdied the next hole, No. 11. Both Gateau-Chovelon and Libman came out of the back-9 at 1-under par, and Maymon and Davis were both under par on the front-9 at 1-under and 2-under, respectively.
HIGHLIGHTS
? At 4.04, Baylor had the third-best par-4 scoring average, and at 3.15, BU had the fourth-best par-3 average.
? The Lady Bears had 17 birdies through 18 holes, which were the fourth-most in the 15-team field.
? With four birdies apiece, Davis, Maymon and Gateau-Chovelon tied for the fourth-most birdies individually in the first round.
? Libman had 14 pars, which was the third-most individually.
STAT OF THE ROUND
4 - The number of Lady Bears in Sunday's first round who either shot or tied their lowest round of the season. Lonardi and Libman both posted their lowest rounds in the 2014 season, and Maymon and Gateau-Chovelon both tied their lowest rounds of 2014 season.

"Today was not a terrible day, but it was a little non-descript for our team," head coach Jay Goble said. "We had the birdies to go low, but the simple mistakes cost us from having a great day. We are going to work on the things we can control and do better tomorrow."
