TEMPE, Ariz. - The Baylor women's golf team moved up four spots into a tie for seventh place after the second round of the Ping ASU Invitational. Baylor shot 1-under 287 in Saturday's second round at the ASU Karsten Golf Course, for a 36-hole total of 3-over 579, just 15 strokes off the lead in a field that includes 11 teams ranked in the nation's top 25.
Lauren Whyte leads the Lady Bears and is tied for 19th place after shooting even-par 72 for an overall score of 1-under 143 through two rounds. Hayley Davis, Laura Lonardi, Giovana Maymon and Dylan Kim are all tied for 42nd place with total scores of 4-over 148. In Saturday's round, Kim shot 3-under 69, Maymon shot even-par 72, Lonardi shot 2-over 74 and Davis shot 5-over 77.
Playing as an individual, Louise Gateau-Chovelon shot 4-over 76 for a total score of 11-over 155, placing her in a tie for 82nd place.

"It was a solid day today," head coach Jay Goble said. "I don't believe we really did anything different, we just stayed patient and gave every shot our best out there. Dylan played very solid, and she was really in control out there today. I am very proud of her come back today. Lauren continues to stay patient out there and played a solid round today. She had a hole out from the fairway today, which is always fun. Our third freshman, Giovana, played solid as well. She had six birdies in today's round and is getting her game in shape for the postseason."
